Sensory materials from local industry surplus
COCOA
The solid biomaterial COCOA is made with 50% of surplus from local industrial chocolate production and offers a multi-sensory experience due to its scent and the human emotional connection to chocolate. The material is in development but might be used for applications such as wall-covers and interior products.
COCOA was featured within the curated space ‘Designing for the Senses‘ by Material Driven at Architect@Work in London, which placed the material in the context of the built environment, looking at future visions of our connection and interaction with sensory, sustainable and healthy building materials.
COCOA was explored within cross-disciplinary collaborations and client projects, such as ZERO by PriestmanGoode and KUSK, co-created with Punctuate.
